Food as Medicine: Ayurvedic Cooking for August, Vegetarian - Aug. 28th
August 28, 6:00-8:00pm
with Gwen Diaz, CAS
The cool nights return in August and might catch you off guard with chilly nights and early mornings while the days are still hot. August can add up to electrolyte depletion, causing dryness. Your body recognizes that fall is coming and slurps up fat from your blood to insulate the skin for cooler times ahead. This makes it harder for your body to hold onto moisture. Altogether dry air and these internal factors can lead to internal and external dryness, just like the environment. In this class we’ll talk about these factors as well as harvesting the abundance of summer and to moisten our bodies for the coming fall. In honor of our bodies, the coming change of season, and back to school we’ll make colorful pizzas with local tomatoes, blackberries, veggies and goat milk cheese.
